Experience: Ghana: Cape Coast Ancestral Heritage & Nature Experience

"Had the most amazing time with 'JuJu' and Pablo. I felt safe and had so much fun learning about the culture and the slave trade. Juju made sure we had snack and water during the entire experience. He introduced use to traditional ghanaian foods and alcohol which my boyfriend was really excited to try because I tasting he had booked was canceled last minute. Truthfully our tour with GEX was booked last minute but you could not tell. They curated a tour that gave you a deeper understanding what we were witnessing in real time. Each top expanded our knowledge, they were connected, like a web. He encouraged us to immerse ourselves into the tour and take advantage of opportunities we wouldnt get again. For instance at the site of the last bath he encouraged us to remove our shoes and step into the water, and I am glad I did because it made me feel more connected to my roots and my ancestors who made it possible for me to return to Africa.

The day was absolute perfection and I am so grateful for the experience. I would book this tour 10000000xs."

Experience: Ghana: Cape Coast Ancestral Heritage & Nature Experience

"Amazing Experience. This is one of the few tours that combines the Slave River with the Castles. It's a long, emotional day, but the midday trip to Kakum provides a bit of levity between the Last Bath site and the Slave Dungeons Koju and Pablo were a blast to spend time with. They made the long drive enjoyable by sharing facts about Ghana, providing local snacks to sample and cracking jokes to keep the mood light. The tour guide truly went out of his way to ensure we had a great experience. We returned to our hotel with bellies full of local fare, and brains full of history more detailed than what we were taught at home."

Our response

Thank you so much, Kevin, for sharing such a wonderful review! It was an absolute pleasure having you with us. We're delighted that you enjoyed the journey, our local flavours and the opportunity to explore Ghana's history in greater depth. Thank you for travelling with GEX and for recognising the efforts of our team.
